Three Essential Items You Need For Your Mobile Home

Hi there, my name is Angela Baker. I've always been interested in all sorts of topics, one of them being manufacturing and how to make more with less. New manufacturing techniques are always being developed that allow for products to be created with the fewest resources possible. This is something that has always fascinated me and I have spent a lot of time researching these new techniques. But I always like to feel like I'm doing something constructive, so I decided to start writing blog posts based on the exciting things I have discovered about lean manufacturing and many other topics.

Your mobile home is the place you hang your hat at the end of the day, but you want to make sure it's as safe and functional as possible. To make your mobile home the best it can be, you'll need some essential supplies. Use this guide to stock up on the mobile home supplies you need to keep your home comfortable and safe.

Heat Tape

Mobile homes can be hard to manage in severe winter weather, and you may find that your water line tends to freeze when the temperatures tip. In some cases, this is due to plastic pipes and tubing in your mobile home. To combat this issue, consider investing in heat tape. Heat tape is placed on the plastic pipes to keep them warm throughout the winter. You'll need to make sure that the tape is plugged into a GFCI outlet to help prevent shorts and potential electrocution. If you aren't comfortable with setting this up yourself, you can hire a plumber to tackle it for you.

Fire Extinguishers

Fire extinguishers are a good idea for any home, but they are a must in a mobile home, particularly those built before HUD standards were established for this type of dwelling. Keep one in the kitchen to quickly respond to kitchen fires, and consider keeping one in each bedroom for added safety. Place one next to your hot water heater as well as an extra precaution. You should also be sure to add smoke detectors throughout your mobile home so you and your family can quickly evacuate in the event of a blaze.

Roof Sealant

Roof sealant can protect your mobile home from water and storm damage, and certain types can also reflect sunlight to keep your mobile home cooler in the summer. This sealant is used in conjunction with your mobile home's existing roof, but you'll want to patch any holes and repair any damage before applying the sealant. It can be sprayed or brushed onto your roof, and once it has dried, it creates a protective barrier against rain and melting snow. You'll want to apply roof sealant on a clear day when rain is not in the forecast, as it will need to dry completely to be effective.

If you rent a lot in a mobile home park, consider asking your neighbors for other tips you can use to keep your mobile home safe and secure throughout the year. With the right supplies and a little bit of work, your mobile home can be a cozy place to live.
