Impactful Advice For Cleaning Wire Mesh On Sifters

Hi there, my name is Angela Baker. I've always been interested in all sorts of topics, one of them being manufacturing and how to make more with less. New manufacturing techniques are always being developed that allow for products to be created with the fewest resources possible. This is something that has always fascinated me and I have spent a lot of time researching these new techniques. But I always like to feel like I'm doing something constructive, so I decided to start writing blog posts based on the exciting things I have discovered about lean manufacturing and many other topics.

If you use sifters a lot around a worksite, the wire mesh materials are naturally going to get dirty. You can't leave them this way though because they will break down in this condition. Here are some helpful cleaning protocols you can use to keep these materials protected.

Use a Nylon Bristle Brush

In order to make the most out of your time cleaning wire mesh on sifters, you have to use the right tools. One of the most impactful is a nylon bristle brush. It's going to be your ticket to removing all sorts of debris and particles on wire mesh.

The nylon bristle materials are durable, but not so rough to where they'll cause your wire mesh materials to scratch and thus get exposed to corrosion. You can work this brush around dirty parts of the wire mesh, leaving behind a clean surface that enables you to use sifters effectively.

Soak Wire Mesh for Prolonged Periods of Time in Cleaning Solutions

If you're having trouble getting rid of gunk on your wire mesh sifters, what you can try is placing them in a bath filled with cleaning solutions. They don't have to be that extravagant. A mild detergent and hot water can work out great for example.

You just need to leave your wire mesh sifters in this bath for prolonged periods of time. Then when you go to use the aforementioned nylon-bristled brush, it will work a lot more effectively and thus save you time cleaning these materials.

Use Acids as a Last Resort

If nothing you try helps you get rid of things on your wire mesh sifters, then you may want to try acidic solutions. Just use them as a last resort so that you don't potentially damage the wire mesh if you can help it.

Citric acids — for instance — can eat away at debris and dirt that you're not having success removing by hand or with standard cleaning chemicals. Just make sure you wipe away these acids completely after they've set out for a period of time on your wire mesh materials.

The best way to get a lot of years out of a wire mesh sifter is to clean the wire mesh materials thoroughly. Using the right tools and being consistent in your cleaning routines will save you from having to replace wire mesh often and stressing about these costs.
